Private technology companies are taking longer to go public, with the median age at listing rising from 6.9 years in 2014 to 11 years in 2025, according to figures cited by Revolut in an announcement released on Monday.

This means more of their growth takes place before shares become available on public markets and can be accessed by retail investors.

“With Revolut Ventures, we’re aiming to dismantle one of the final barriers in wealth management: retail investor exclusion from non-listed companies,” Rolandas Juteika, Head of Revolut Wealth and Trading (EEA) at Revolut stated.

“Value creation happens long before an IPO, and by managing our own platform, we’re giving everyday investors the opportunity to access tomorrow’s market leaders right from the Revolut app,” Juteika added.

The new platform is expected to become available in 2027 and will be integrated into the Revolut app alongside existing investment options, including stocks, exchange-traded funds (ETFs), bonds and money market funds.

The announcement follows the introduction of private market investment products in selected European Economic Area (EEA) countries in July 2026.

However, investments in private companies carry significant risks.

Unlike publicly traded shares, they are more difficult to sell and investors could lose a substantial portion or all of their invested capital.

The launch comes as Revolut continues to expand its operations, having secured full banking licences in the UK and France earlier this year.

The UK fintech, which is seeking to diversify its revenue streams, is also considering a dual stock market listing in London and New York, although no date has been confirmed.
