Jonathan Andic quits as Mango vice-president but insists he is innocent

The eldest of the Andic children has told Mango employees that he is stepping down from his responsibilities as vice-president of the fashion company founded by his father, whose suspected murder at the hands of Jonathan himself is under investigation.

Jonathan, however, has said that he will maintain his “family, social and business projects” in an open letter he has sent to the company founded by Isak Andic. In December 2024, this Turkish-Catalan businessman fell, or was pushed, down a 100-metre embankment on the route to the Salnitre caves in Collbató, on the southern side of the Montserrat mountain range in Barcelona.

Jonathan and his younger sisters, Sarah and Judith Andic Raig, control 95% of Mango through the family conglomerate Punta Na Holding, based on Passeig de Gràcia in Barcelona and comprising several companies and a private equity fund shared between the three. The defendant is, in principle, not giving up these corporate positions and is only leaving the vice-presidency, which carries no executive responsibilities.

“I write these words with sincerity and humility, from the pain, helplessness and frustration of finding myself faced with a narrative of alleged guilt that does not correspond to reality,” the eldest son says in the statement released. “[I must] live with the gravest, most unjust and unfounded accusation that can be levelled at a person.”

Jonathan is free on bail, after posting one million euros, following his arrest and testimony before the judge in Martorell, Raquel Nieto, who is in charge of the case. His defence has already announced that it will lodge an appeal against the remand order for the alleged parricide before Thursday.
