New details have emerged about the most eagerly awaited wedding of the year. The “Jornal de Notícias” (source in Portuguese) obtained access to the marriage certificate of Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez, reporting that the civil ceremony took place at the couple’s home in Cascais on Tuesday 11 August, at about 1.30 pm.
Present at the ceremony, in addition to their five children, as had initially been revealed by the agency representing the player, were four witnesses. They were Miguel Paixão, a friend of the footballer since his youth days at Sporting, Ivana Rodríguez, Georgina’s sister, and Jose Rodríguez Sangil and Monica Gonzalez Martinez, a Spanish jeweller and his wife.
The marriage was formalised by Maria Manuel Folhadela de Oliveira, a registrar who travelled from the city of Porto to conduct the ceremony.
The document also shows that the Portuguese footballer and his wife opted for the separate-property regime (source in Portuguese). Under this arrangement, each spouse generally retains as their own the assets they already possessed before the marriage and any property they acquire afterwards.
However, the separate-property regime is not the default system for marriages in Portugal and, in order to choose it, couples must sign a prenuptial agreement. In the case of Cristiano and Georgina, the document reveals that this agreement was signed the day before the ceremony, at a notary’s office in Lisbon.

Moreover, according to the document seen by “Jornal de Notícias”, neither of them took the other’s surname after the wedding, and they continue to list the Saudi capital, Riyadh, as their habitual residence.
The couple, who have been together since 2016 and announced their engagement in August 2025, have thus formalised a relationship that had been the subject of speculation for months.
Contrary to what many people had expected, Ronaldo and Georgina chose an intimate ceremony to formalise their union. In fact, on the previous Saturday, hundreds of people had gathered near Funchal Cathedral in Madeira, where the footballer was born, convinced they might witness the wedding of one of the world’s most high-profile couples, which ultimately did not happen.
The document now made public by “Jornal de Notícias” does not mention Dolores Aveiro, Cristiano Ronaldo’s mother, nor the footballer’s sisters, Elma and Katia Aveiro, among those present at the ceremony.
