The Brussels metro was partially closed Tuesday afternoon as police investigate a bomb threat in the city center.
“There are three stations closed — De Brouckere, Bourse, Annessens — because of an ongoing police search, the alert started around 3:35 p.m. and the metro service is not interrupted, but the trains are not stopping at the said stations,” a spokesperson from metro operator STIB said.
“We can currently confirm that we have evacuated the area around the Palace cinema and the nearby metro stations due to a bomb threat and are searching,” said police spokesperson Linda Camarero-Verde, according to public broadcaster VRT.
