While physically moving abroad might be easy (depending on your passport, of course), actually feeling settled in your new home can take a while. There could be a language barrier, or lots of bureaucracy to deal with – and that’s before you get into actually building a community of friends and regular haunts. Thankfully, the team at expat and remote worker insurance company William Russell have crunched the numbers to work out exactly where the most welcoming countries and cities are around the globe. “A welcoming destination is more about how easy it is to build a life once you…
Published on 16/06/2026 – 10:59 GMT+2 A rare first-edition copy of Emily Brontë’s Gothic masterpiece “Wuthering Heights” is heading to auction for the first time in more than a century. Christie’s auction house said that it’s the first copy of the novel in the publisher’s original cloth binding to be auctioned since 1908. Only about 250 copies of the first edition were printed, and this one has been in a private library since shortly after its publication in 1847. It is being sold along with a copy of sister Anne Brontë’s “Agnes Grey” and is expected to sell for between…
Metsola has raised concerns over a joint declaration signed by Kartheiser and other MEPs with Duma officials, in which both sides agreed to “continue and to deepen” cooperation. In her letter, dated June 11, Metsola says these statements “give rise to serious concern” because they could “misrepresent” the position of the Parliament. The Parliament officially suspended communications with Russian legislative bodies in 2014. Russian officials have been barred from accessing the institution since shortly after Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022. Metsola pointed to the rules that indicate MEPs need to respect the body’s “dignity and reputation,” and…
Iran outmanoeuvred US President Donald Trump “like a violin” in negotiations, walking away with far better terms after sensing his desperation for a deal to end the war, former National Security Adviser John Bolton told Euronews. Speaking to Euronews’ Special Report from the G7, Bolton — who advised Trump on delicate security matters during his first term — argued that the framework agreement favoured Iran and said the US President had prioritised economic concerns over strategic considerations. “They’ve played him like a violin,” Bolton said. “That’s why they’ve got the deal that they want.” Bolton told Euronews Trump’s main concern…
The World Cup is among the globe’s greatest shows, and we don’t just mean the on-pitch action: The pageantry on the sidelines is just as important. Each country – some of which are making their debut – wants to put their best foot forward and showcase their local culture, whether that be through squad announcement videos or team kits. Now that all of the teams have made it to their national base camps, we thought it was time to take a look at how they got there, as many carriers have unveiled special aircraft livery for the occasion. From Aerolíneas…
As world leaders gather at the G7 summit – what’s Keir Starmer’s top priority? With tensions in the Middle East, a trade dispute with China, a continuing war in Ukraine and Russia’s apparent involvement in arson attacks on homes and a car linked to Keir Starmer, the PM has his hands full. Sam Coates and Anne McElvoy assess whether Starmer can turn high-level diplomacy into meaningful progress. The duo also examine the latest polling data, which suggests Andy Burnham remains the only Labour figure the public sees as a potentially stronger prime minister than Starmer. Plus, does Wes Streeting have…
