A brightly decorated path of lights at Ukraine’s main exhibition centre offers a rare moment of calm for families living with daily power cuts and air-raid alerts.

Visitors walk through a warm glow that contrasts with long hours without electricity at home.

Parents say the display gives children a break from nights in shelters and lessons in basements. Soldiers on short leave also come to share the atmosphere with relatives.

The festive trail feels hopeful even as peace talks show no progress, and many visitors say the season still leaves room for small miracles.
