Footage from Buenos Aires and Atlanta shows supporters cheering, embracing and playing drums as the final whistle confirmed Argentina’s place in the quarter-finals.
Many fans said they never stopped believing despite trailing 2-0 late in the match, while others described the comeback as one of the most emotional victories they had witnessed.
Argentina will face either Switzerland or Colombia in the quarter-finals.
