The final day of the ECOLE MONT-OLIVET Grand Slam in LAUSANNE promised yet more top quality judo

Inside the Vaudoise Arena, double world champion Joshiro Maruyama joined Petra Orešković of Croatia for a fantastic inclusive kata demonstration.

The adaptive judo then came to a climactic finish!

The adaptive medalists joined the crowd in showing their appreciation.

A strong Swiss crowd was present to witness the last of the action from this year’s inaugural event.

International Judo Federation President, Mr Marius Vizer and IOC Sports Director, Mr Pierre DUCREY watched on as….

The -90kg final was an uzbek showdown between Umar BOZOROV and Nurbek MURTOZOEV.

After a tight contest, a huge pick up technique saw BOZOROV come out on top, claiming a second grand slam title. Great respect was shown between the two.

President of the Uzbekistan Judo Federation, Mr Azizjon KAMILOV was on hand to award the finalists their medals.

In the -78 kg final, Anna Monta OLEK took on Yelyzaveta LYTVYNENKO. A strong counter from Olek scored waza-ari and she controlled the rest of the contest to take her fifth grand slam gold. Pure joy for the German.

International Judo Federation guest Mr Timur KEMELL, awarded the gold.

It was Ilia SULAMANIDZE who took the spoils at -100kg.

Catching his opponent Simeon CATHARINA with a foot sweep and controlling him right down to the mat for a yuko score.

The end of a terrific day.

He was awarded his gold medal by Harvest Group CEO, Mr Almaz ALSENOV.

The final of the +78kg category was an all French affair. With Lea FONTAINE up against Romane DICKO. Fontaine managed to control her opponent onto her back and secure a pin and the ippon. The medals were awarded by President of France Judo, Mr Stephane NOMIS.

At +100 kg World champion, Inal TASOEV proved his dominance in the category, Hooking the leg of a resurgent Martti PUUMALAINEN and driving him into the mat, once again taking grand slam gold.

The final gold medal was awarded by IOC Sports Director, Mr Pierre DUCREY

Thank you Switzerland. See you soon on the world tour, next time in Budapest!
