Google Flights has long been a go-to for those looking to save money on their travels, with the tech giant giving users the ability to track the prices of flights to their destination of choice in the hopes of snagging a bargain.

First launched in 2016, Google then expanded the tracking option to hotels last year, with travellers able to monitor the prices of hotels that match their preferences, with filters such as brand, amenities, star rating and price.

However, it’s taken until now for the search engine to allow price tracking for the exact hotel you want to stay at.

Would-be guests can search for a specific hotel and by sharing their potential travel dates, they will be able to opt in to email updates about price changes.

Other money saving tools for travellers

In August last year, Google rolled out its new Flight Deals section, an AI-powered search tool for travellers who are flexible about where they want to go.

To use it, you just need to share where you’re travelling from, and when, where and how you want to travel. But rather than specifics, you can search for something like “week-long trip this winter to a city with great food, nonstop only” or “10 day ski trip to a world-class resort with fresh powder”, and the tool will do the rest.

For example, we asked it for suggestions for a “week-long cultural city break this winter with a flight time of less than four hours”, and Google Deals came up with several options, including Valencia, Kraków, and Hamburg in December and January.

Other filters you can add to your search include class of travel, the number of stops, airline alliance and price.
