Typhoon Kalmaegi has torn through the Philippines, leaving at least 140 people dead and over 120 missing.

Torrential rains caused flash floods in more than 100 areas, submerging homes and vehicles, particularly in Cebu province.

Nearly two million residents were affected, and more than half a million took shelter in evacuation centers.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr declared a national state of calamity as emergency teams cleared debris and restored power. Another typhoon is forming in the Pacific, bringing new concerns for northern regions.
