Heavy snowfall blanketed Russia’s Far Eastern Magadan region, making roads treacherous and bringing traffic to a near standstill. Trucks struggled to climb snow-covered roads, while intercity buses were delayed or suspended.

Snowploughs were deployed to clear the roads as authorities urged drivers to avoid long-distance travel.

Residents reported waiting at bus stations for services that could not operate because of the conditions. More heavy, wet snow and strong winds were forecast.
