Armistice Day was marked in Paris with the annual ceremony at the Arc de Triomphe, honouring the 1918 agreement that ended the First World War.
President Emmanuel Macron laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and rekindled the eternal flame.
At 11 a.m., the exact hour the guns fell silent 107 years ago, the crowd observed a minute of silence.
This year’s ceremony also marked the centenary of the Bleuet de France. Soil from First World War memorial sites, listed by UNESCO, was placed on the tomb.
The cavalry of the Republican Guard closed the procession.
Traffic and parking rules in the central districts of Paris around the ceremony were changed for the day, and more police were present to keep the area safe and the procession running smoothly.
