“Sticking with the status quo and not working relentlessly to secure a good deal that boosts growth would be a major dereliction of duty.”

At Labour’s annual conference last month, Burnham said Britain’s departure from the bloc had done “more harm than good” and he pledged to use the imminent U.K.-EU summit — due to take place next month — to put forward “what I believe the different options are for Britain’s long-term relationship with our European partners.”

In subsequent interviews, he said it’s possible a future Labour manifesto could include a pledge to hold an “in-out” referendum on rejoining the EU.

The U.K. prime minister will address MPs after telling the Rest is Politics podcast it is “clear” Russia interfered in the 2016 Brexit referendum.

“I asked the question coming to Downing Street: ‘Was there interference in the 2016 referendum from Russia?’ And I’ve had the clear answer that yes, there was,” Burnham said.

In subsequent media interviews Monday, Foreign Office Minister Stephen Doughty suggested that the U.K. government does not believe that interference was successful.

“Russia has attempted to interfere in a number of our democratic processes over a sustained period,” Doughty told LBC Monday, but he added: “They haven’t succeeded in their many, many attempts to undermine our processes.”

Pushed in a Sky News interview about whether the Brexit referendum result is unsafe, Doughty said “the result is the result.”
