American country singer Nicole Taylor, who performed alongside her red-haired triplet sisters in the band Taylor Red, has died at the age of 35 after being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2022.

Her sisters Natalie and Nika confirmed the news that Nicole had died on 28 September in an emotional YouTube video, saying they were “shocked and heartbroken” to announce Nicole’s death.

Natalie said: “We thought she’d be here sharing her story of earthly healing. Instead, we’re sharing her story of heavenly healing and she’s at peace and no longer suffering, so we’re thankful for that.”

Nika added that Nicole was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer in 2022, describing it as “very aggressive”. It later became stage four.

They described her as their “fearless leader”.

The sisters from Mississippi formed the band in 2010 and were originally known as Red Roots. Nicole was the group’s lead singer and also played guitar, banjo and violin.

They released their first album, ‘Red Roots’, in 2011, and followed that debut with two more albums: ‘The Middle of Nowhere’ (2012) and ‘Triplicity’ (2014). They changed their name to Taylor Red in 2018.

In 2021, Taylor Red released the song ‘Country Money’, which went viral on TikTok.

Despite not releasing a full-length record since 2014, the band performed over 1,000 live shows across America and internationally. They garnered a lot of attention online, including on YouTube, where their channel has more than 16 million subscribers.
