Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić cut short a visit to the United States on Friday after falling ill, forcing the cancellation of planned meetings with U.S. officials, Serbian media reported.
Vučić suddenly became unwell Friday afternoon and, after consulting with doctors, made the decision to return to Belgrade, state broadcaster RTS reported.
The Serbian president had planned to meet with several senior Republican Party officials and also hoped to see U.S. President Donald Trump at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida, the Blic outlet reported. He arrived in Florida on Wednesday and met with former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani and Serbian entrepreneurs from the U.S., according to the Blic report.
Richard Grenell, U.S. presidential envoy for special missions, wished Vučić well in a social media post. “Sorry to miss you but hope all is ok,” Grenell wrote on X.
