Three people, including a child, have died following Russian attacks on the Kyiv region overnight, according to local authorities.

Timur Tkachenko, the head of the Kyiv Regional State Administration, said Russian forces had struck three sites in the Brovary district near the capital, killing three people and injuring three others.

“Falling debris has damaged a private residential house, outbuildings and cars. A fire also broke out on the premises of a non-residential building,” he wrote in a post on Telegram.

At least four people were also injured in an attack on the city of Kyiv, per the Kyiv City Military Administration.

Firefighters have been battling flames in the city’s Holosiivskyi and Obolon districts, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (DSNS) reported on social media, while sharing images showing blazes ravaging what appeared to be warehouses and garages.

A Russian drone strike on the Chernihiv region in northern Ukraine also sparked a fire at a warehouse in the Pryluky district, per the DSNS. No casualties have been reported so far.

Zelenskyy in Serbia

It comes as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in Serbia, where he is set to meet with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and Prime Minister Đuro Macut.

According to Zelenskyy, the trio are due to discuss “expanding economic ties” as well as their relationship with the European Union and security issues.

US Senate approves Russia sanctions bill

On Friday, the United States Senate passed a sweeping new round of sanctions on Russia.

The bill, which had been championed by the late Lindsey Graham, is designed to punish Moscow and countries that purchase its oil and natural gas.

Responding to the news on X, Zelenskyy said Ukraine was “very grateful” and that the sanctions package would help “increase pressure” on Moscow and bring this “insane Russian war against our independence and our people to an end.”

“Real, strong American pressure and sanctions against Russia are what will help the most,” he added.
