Rue Américaine 95

What’s good? The food is delicious, the selection of cocktails is vast, the vibe is fun and convivial. Gigi Amor is the perfect place for a chatty night out with friends or a romantic date.

We indulged in plates of pasta and pizza. The traditional Rigatoni all’amatriciana — with spicy tomato sauce, guanciale and Pecorino cheese — was incredibly tasty, while the Gigi Amor pizza — with beetroot cream, mozzarella, spicy salami and roasted sweet potatoes — was absolutely unforgettable. The choice of the desserts is original, and their presentation is very well curated. We couldn’t pick one so we tried three — Matchamisu, brioche siciliane and strawberry pavlova — and they did not disappoint

What’s not? The service was slow and inattentive. We had to remind the servers about our order and did not receive all the drinks we had asked for.

Vibe: From the ceilings to the floor, every detail counts at Gigi Amor. The nostalgic Italian music in the background will remind you of summer evenings in the streets of Rome, while the pink walls and soft velvet booths will inspire your romantic side.

Who’s picking up the check? The antipasti are between €12 and €17, the pizzas range from €11 to €20, while the pasta dishes are a bit more expensive, between €19 and €24. Cocktails cost from €11.

Insider tip: Don’t miss out on the cocktails and the not-so-Italian Matchamisu, a reimagined tiramisu with the flavor of Japanese matcha tea instead of coffee.

Fun fact: The slogan of the restaurant is “Mangia bene, ridi spesso, ama molto!” which means “Eat well, laugh often, love a lot!”

How to get there: Located in the elegant Châtelain district, the restaurant is only a few minutes away from the Washington bus station and the Janson tram station.
