What’s not? Some of the beers listed on the menu were actually out of stock; one of our chicken burgers was deep fried to the point you couldn’t actually tell it was still meat; while another member of our group had the bun on her vegan burger nearly crumble into a thousand pieces as soon as she picked it up off the plate. There were also some fairly glaring hygiene issues (see below).
Vibe: It’s all painfully hipster and ordering-drinks-via-QR-code trendy. There are also shuffleboard tables upstairs if that’s your thing on a night out. BrewDog is a huge venue, so there’s plenty of space if you’re trying to find a spot in town for a medium-sized group event, and it also has cozier booths for smaller parties.
Who’s picking up the check? There aren’t many more expensive beers in Brussels than at BrewDog, so try to get your boss to dig deep into his wallet — like we did.
Spotted: A mouse scurrying around on the floor near the bar. Not great at all.
Insider tip: If it’s classic Belgian beer you’re looking for, go someplace else. This is not your traditional Bruxellois brown bar. And if we’re being honest, Brussels Beer Project — a similarly trendy craft beer hot spot — offers superior drinks and better quality food.
How to get there: Get the metro from the European Quarter down to Central Station and it’s pretty much right outside.
