Prince Harry and his family have arrived back in the UK just days after announcing their intention to move, according to reports in British media.

The Duke of Sussex, Meghan, and their two children – Archie and Lilibet – are thought to have landed in Birmingham on Wednesday after taking a private flight from California, per the reports.

The couple had left the UK for the Golden State in 2020 after announcing that they would be stepping back from their roles in the Royal Family amid a bitter family feud.

Reports say they will now settle in a home in the Cotswolds in southwest England, an affluent and picturesque area favoured by many famous figures, and that the children have already been found a new school.

During their six-year stint in the US, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex gave a tell-all interview to Oprah Winfrey in which they discussed their decision to head across the pond, with Harry pointing to scrutiny from the British press as well as a lack of support as part of the rationale for the move.

While Harry seems to have somewhat patched things up with his father, King Charles III, he reportedly remains deeply at odds with his brother, Prince William, over a number of issues.

His surprise return comes after he told the BBC last year that he could not “see a world in which I would be bringing my wife and children back to the UK at this point” – although he added that he missed the UK and regretted that he would not have the chance to show his children his home country.

Questions will now turn to the Duke and his family’s level of publicly funded security on their return to Britain.

Addressing the issue earlier this month, UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham said it was a “private matter” for Harry and Meghan and that the government “wished them well” with their move.
