Pope Leo XIV will travel to Uruguay, Argentina and Peru from 6 to 17 November, as originally planned. The Press Office of the Holy See has officially confirmed the visit after doctors verified the favourable progress of the Supreme Pontiff following his recent operation.

According to the Vatican statement, the procedure went ahead without complications and subsequent tests confirmed that the illness was contained, so he does not need any additional oncological treatment.

Two weeks after the operation, the latest medical check-ups show a favourable recovery and there are no contraindications to making the trip.

Since returning to the Vatican, Leo XIV has gradually resumed his activities, although he keeps to a schedule adapted to medical recommendations and sets aside time to rest. Doctor Luigi Carbone, responsible for reporting on his progress, has confirmed that he is in good health.

The Holy Father has expressed his joy at returning to Latin America, a region with which he has a close personal bond. “It fills me with happiness to return to the continent where I have lived so many moments of my life,” he said. During his visit, he will seek to strengthen ties with Catholic communities and convey a message of faith, hope and peace.
