Following the meeting, Jacek Dobrzynski, Siemoniak’s spokesperson, told reporters that authorities are “treating this matter very seriously.”

“Month after month, year after year, more and more threats and worrying messages are reaching the police ,” he said. “In this case, we are talking about a strong probability that these threats could have been acted upon.”

No further details on the alleged plot were released and it remains unclear who might be behind it.

Poland has been on the frontline of Russia’s hybrid war against Ukraine’s backers in Europe, and has suffered cyberattacks which have been attributed to Moscow.

In recent weeks, Poland has also seen a wave of violent incidents in schools, including the death of a school caretaker in a knife attack.
