Winter is coming and that means only one thing – it’s time to dust off the skis and get ready to hit the slopes.

In Europe, we’re lucky to have the world’s most developed ski market, with the Alps a traditional favourite alongside resorts in the Dolomites, Pyrenees, Scandinavia, the Balkans, and Central and Eastern Europe.

In fact, according to the Skiresort.com database, Europe is home to more than 3,900 resorts, with 37,800 kilometres of marked slopes and more than 16,800 ski lifts.

With so many ski destinations to choose from, there’s no shortage of places to stay. Here are some of the hotels and lodges opening or reopening this winter.
