With the FIFA World Cup just days away, all eyes are turned towards North America as a surge of tourists is expected to descend on the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Increase in travel demand across the host countries has been rather uneven (for obvious reasons…) but Mexico is certainly set to be one of the big winners.

If you’re headed to the tournament and looking for somewhere to relax after the excitement is all over in mid-July, you might just want to look at Aman’s latest luxury resort – and its first in Mexico – Amanvari.

Set to open on 1 August, the hotel is located on Baja California Sur’s East Cape.

The nearest airport, Los Cabos International Airport, is under an hour’s drive away and has direct flights from in-country host cities including Mexico City, Guadalajara and Monterrey as well as New York, Atlanta, Dallas and Vancouver.

For those flying directly from Europe, Condor operates seasonal flights direct from Frankfurt. You can also fly via Mexico City or Dallas-Fort Worth.

What to expect at Amanvari

Amanvari’s name means “peace” and “water” in Sanskrit, and you can expect both on any stay.

The property’s 18 Casitas are set along either the beachfront or the estuary, or are set higher up among the palm groves so you can enjoy panoramic views of the Sea of Cortés and Sierra de la Laguna.

No matter which you choose, each comes with its own private heated pool and a terrace.

For further relaxation, there are six private treatment rooms, two “hydro houses” with banya (a Russian steam bath) and hammam, as well as a contemporary temazcal (sweat lodge). There’s also a 24-hour fitness centre on site.

With access to a 1,500-acre estate and three miles of swimmable shortline, guests can try everything from hiking and horseback riding to snorkelling and diving.

Foodwise, you can grab Japanese dishes at Sesui or try Italian cuisine at Arva, while Luma offers open-fire cooking. For a laidback cocktail, you can head to The Lounge.
