Arsenal kicks off new content series with local recycling champions

GLOBAL Recycling Day has been commemorated by Arsenal Football Club and leading aluminium drinks can maker, Ball Corporation, with the latest instalment of their social media content series.

The series celebrates sustainability and community, and highlights that good things happen when you recycle.

Arsenal stars Gabriel Martinelli, Eddie Nketiah and Matt Turner surprise five recycling champions from a local school at the Colney Training Centre.

The 12-year-old Gooners from a north London school near to Emirates Stadium took part in this year’s ‘Premier League Inspires’ challenge with sustainability in the community as the theme. The girls caught the attention of the scheme with ideas for a social media campaign to activate recycling among Arsenal supporters with an interactive game that teaches what can and can’t be recycled.

The content shows the girls being given a tour of the training ground and then being surprised by the appearance of three top Arsenal stars, together with the team mascot Gunnersaurus.

As well as posing questions to the players, the five young participants also got to compete in a series of recycling knowledge questions and football skills games with the players.

The content highlights that aluminium is infinitely recyclable and cans are the world’s most widely recycled beverage packaging. The UK can recycling rate is now at 82 percent, with a European rate of 73 percent.

Arsenal has captured the series on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and on the Arsenal website.
