“Any attempt by Iran to threaten, silence, intimidate, harass, harm, or coerce people on our territories through proxies or any other means is unacceptable,” they said, warning they would ensure “those responsible are held to account.”

Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband said the Iranian ambassador to London had been summoned to the Foreign Office and warned Britain “will not tolerate threats on our soil.”

The incident near the RAF Fairford airbase — which the U.S. has used to conduct defensive strikes against Iran — took place on Sept. 27.

Seven men have been arrested as part of an investigation by Counter Terrorism Policing. All have been released on bail.

The force said last week it is considering “possible foreign state involvement” as part of its enquiries.

Speaking in the House of Commons on Monday, Burnham said: “We will not tolerate these threats on our soil.”
