Coming up today, the EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has welcomed the latest Ukraine peace deal on the table in a speech in Strasbourg, calling it a ‘starting point’ that comes after days of diplomacy. EU foreign affairs ministers also met yesterday to pile pressure on the Kremlin to opt for a more credible commitment to peace. For more, we will cross to Strasbourg where Euronews EU editor Maria Tadeo is standing by for us.

Last night, as Americans were getting ready to celebrate Thanksgiving, a shooting took place a stone’s throw from the White House. As far as we know, two National Guard members are injured. For more, we will be joined in the studio by our US politics expert, Stefan Grobe.

With so much turmoil in the world today, there is one man hoping to use his soft power for change. Pope Leo XIV has set off on a six day visit to the Middle East – his first foreign trip since his election. For more on his trip, we will head to the Vatican and bring in Euronews Italy correspondent Giorgia Orlandi.

Despite the efforts of Pope Leo XIV to promote peace, the number of conflicts in the world is on the rise, and that’s the reason many EU countries are bringing back military conscription. Jakob Janas has been taking a look at developments on that front.
