BRUSSELS — European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will unveil on Friday the latest tranche of sanctions against Russia, asking member countries to sign off on new restrictions on oil tankers and financial institutions.
The Commission’s chief spokesperson Paula Pinho said: “We can confirm that the Commission has adopted a new package of sanctions against Russia.”
Von der Leyen and the EU’s top diplomat, Kaja Kallas, are expected to speak later on Friday to outline the proposals. The measures are set to include additional listings of so-called shadow fleet vessels carrying `Russian oil in violation of a G7 price cap.
