Dream job alert: Get paid to travel around Europe talking to strangers

Dream job alert: Get paid to travel around Europe talking to strangers

I don’t throw the phrase ‘dream job’ around lightly. Only a few roles qualify: The barefoot booksellers in the Maldives. The person who looks after a private island in Ireland with only seals and tourists for company. The room service critic.

But I think I might have just found my new dream job, and it involves getting paid to travel around Europe and talk to strangers (something I already do for free!).

Self-improvement app RiseGuide is currently hiring a “Global Charisma Scout” who will be paid $3,000 (€2,630) a month to spend eight weeks travelling around the continent and logging their conversations with strangers.

You’ll be asked to score each city on warmth, talkativeness and ease of approach, which will eventually be used to build the European Charisma Index showing where it’s easiest to strike up a conversation.

The only requirements for applicants is that you’re energetic, outgoing, independent, and love people. You’ll also need to be able to travel in the EU, and live out of a suitcase for two months. A second language will also be an advantage for applicants.

The cities set to be included in the index are Rome, Barcelona, Lisbon, Paris, Dublin, Athens, Amsterdam and Berlin.

Alongside the salary, RiseGuide will also cover all flights, hotels and experiences on your trip.

How to apply to be RiseGuide’s Global Charisma Scout

You can apply for the Global Charisma Scout role here.

Alongside your CV, you’ll need to submit a three to four minute video explaining why you would be a great Global Charisma Scout.

The application also asks for links to your public social media profiles like Instagram or TikTok.

Best of luck!
