A delegation of US and European diplomats accredited in Azerbaijan visited the post-conflict reconstruction sites of Karabakh over the weekend as peace with Armenia is gathering more pace with new political and economic initiatives.

Dutch Ambassador Marianne de Jong told Euronews that the diplomatic delegation wanted to see “the progress in the renovations” as “we fully support as the Netherlands, as part of the EU, the reconciliation process between Armenia and Azerbaijan.”

According to the diplomat, the Netherlands is seeking opportunities to provide support in connectivity and investment.

Ukraine’s Ambassador Yuriy Husyev said the peace process in the South Caucasus “is a good example how two countries solved long-term conflict with a respect to international law”.

Highlighting the US role in the peace process, deputy chief of mission at the US embassy in Baku Amy Carlon told Euronews that Baku and Washington “have been taking concrete actions to implement peace and bilateral partnership”.

As the ongoing peace process between the two former rivals evolves, reconstruction efforts in Karabakh are advancing, with infrastructure projects shaping a new phase of development in the region.
