The so-called “wGotowości” (mReadiness) programme was announced by Chief of General Staff Gen Wieslaw Kukuła, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz and Deputy Head of the Ministry of Defence Cezary Tomczyk. During a press conference, Kukuła explained that the programme envisages five lines of focus across two different pathways. “Firstly, to strengthen the individual resilience of citizens and secondly to strengthen the availability, resilience and competence of the reserves,” he said. BUCHAREST — Washington should scrap its plan to withdraw hundreds of troops from Romania, the country’s deputy defense minister told POLITICO, arguing the decision could fuel Russian propaganda around NATO disunity. “I believe this decision can be overturned … and it should be overturned,” said Romanian State Secretary for Defense Sorin Moldovan. Last week, the Pentagon said it would redeploy an infantry brigade of around 800 troops back to Kentucky from Romania, as the U.S. military reorients its focus to domestic priorities like border protection and the Indo-Pacific region. “I understand the current administration plans — that they want to review…

When Dubai Design Week launched in 2015, it welcomed 30,000 visitors. A decade later, the festival has grown fivefold, yet director Natasha Carella is adamant that it remains “digestible on a human level.” This balance – between ambitious scale and intimate accessibility – defines much of her approach to one of the region’s most significant design gatherings. Running until 9 November 2025, the 11th edition brings together over 300 participants at Downtown Design, large-scale installations, and a growing roster of programming that deliberately sidesteps what Carella calls “buzzwords.” Instead, the festival is guided by three core principles: showcasing high-quality, original…

Europe was the second most significant hotspot for Islamophobic incidents in 2024, according to the latest annual Islamophobia report of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
