Authorities intervened after the entire family was hospitalised for mushroom poisoning, with the juvenile court in the central city of L’Aquila deciding last week that the couple’s alternative lifestyle put the lives of the children at jeopardy. The family of five, including an eight-year-old girl and two five-year-old twin boys, had been living…
Published on 26/11/2025 – 10:52 GMT+1 Police forces in the United Kingdom have launched the country’s first AI chatbot for policing, designed to answer non-emergency queries online. While your mind might leap to RoboCop or Blade Runner, the virtual assistant, called Bobbi, won’t be investigating crimes or replacing officers. Instead, it offers quick responses to frequently asked questions in order to ease pressure on call handlers and front-counter teams. “This is the first time this technology has been used in policing in the UK,” a spokesperson for both forces said. “Bobbi interacts like a human, but is fully automated”. The…
“I’m even thinking that maybe we set out like a 20-point peace proposal, just like we did in Gaza. We put a 20-point Trump plan together that was 20 points for peace, and I’m thinking maybe we do the same thing with you,” he added. Witkoff has repeatedly infuriated Kyiv’s European allies, according to multiple diplomats and officials, by repeatedly promoting Kremlin talking points after meeting with senior Russian officials, including Putin. Trump’s primary goal is to end the war in Ukraine, and White House officials said that he doesn’t have red lines on what that looks like. Moscow has meanwhile continued its bombardment…

By James Brooks with AP Published on 26/11/2025 – 11:54 GMT+1 Appearing first as a dot on the horizon, the remote Nini oil field on Europe’s rugged North Sea slowly comes into view from a helicopter. Used to extract fossil fuels, the field is now getting a second lease on life as a means of permanently storing planet-warming carbon dioxide beneath the seabed. In a process that almost reverses oil extraction, chemical giant INEOS plans to inject liquefied CO2 deep down into depleted oil reservoirs, 1,800 metres beneath the seabed. The Associated Press made a rare visit to the Siri platform, close to…

Von der Leyen: ‘We now have a starting point’ on Ukraine peace deal – POLITICO Skip to main content
Europe must keep the pressure on Russia because the country remains intent on “permanently redrawing maps” and bringing back its lost “spheres of influence”, Ursula von der Leyen said on Wednesday, as fast-paced peace talks led by the United States raise the prospect of economic relief for Moscow despite its continued assault on Ukraine. “From the start, Russia has always believed that they can outlast Ukraine, Europe and all of its allies,” the European Commission president told the European Parliament in Strasbourg in a speech on Wednesday morning. “And it is why every time there is serious progress towards negotiations…
Hawaii’s Kilauea Volcano erupted again on 25 November, releasing a column of lava from its crater, according to the US Geological Survey. The eruption began at 14:30 local time, with fountains reaching around 120 metres and lighting up the surrounding area. An orange aviation alert remained in effect due to the elevated volcanic activity. The episode follows smaller spatter events recorded since 21 November and marks the volcano’s 37th eruption phase since December 2024.
