Published on 03/09/2025 – 9:38 GMT+2 A group of MEPs is preparing to table a resolution at the European Parliament aimed at referring the Mercosur agreement to the Court of Justice of the EU, according to two sources familiar with the issue. If the EU court were to be seized, it would suspend the ratification process of the deal. Green MEPs Majdouline Sbai (France) and Saskia Bricmont (Belgium), along with Manon Aubry (France) from The Left group, are leading the initiative. According to one of the sources, the resolution will argue that the European Commission’s mandate does not allow it to split…

Weather conditions that fuelled deadly wildfires in Türkiye, Greece and Cyprus were made more intense by climate change, new research has found. The rapid analysis from World Weather Attribution (WWA) shows that the hot, dry and windy conditions, which drove the spread of blazes in the three countries, were around 22 per cent more intense because of human-caused climate change. The findings follow data confirming that 2025 has become Europe’s worst year on record for wildfires, with more than a million hectares of land burned. As of 26 August, an area bigger than Cyprus and higher than the total for…
By Euronews Published on 28/08/2025 – 7:00 GMT+2 As many return from their summer holiday and go back to work, perhaps inspired to find a new job, experts are warning against recruitment scams. Professional networking platform LinkedIn issued a new warning ahead of the autumn season, asking job seekers to be aware of fraudulent curriculum vitae (CV) writing services and fake job posts. These propositions often use artificial intelligence (AI) tools for free and often ask members to move the conversation off-platform, LinkedIn told Euronews Next in a statement. Most of these propositions for CV services come from people outside of…
While not as heavily visited as some other European countries like Italy, France and Spain, Iceland still sees a lot of visitors at popular attractions such as the Blue Lagoon and the Golden Triangle every year. These destinations are now facing all too familiar issues with overtourism, such as limited accommodation, traffic congestion, infrastructure strain and environmental damage. As more travellers seek to avoid the crowds, they are discovering some of Iceland’s more overlooked regions. One such region is the wild and rugged Eastfjords, where travellers can reconnect with nature through dramatic landscapes and abundant wildlife. Stunning hikes, reindeer and…
As millions of children around the world are readying their own return to the classroom, we, the fans of the magical world, celebrate our most special day. 1 September is the date when the students of the ‘Harry Potter’ world board the Hogwarts Express for a new term. This year, HBO Max has transported the magic to Madrid, and I was lucky enough to experience this journey to the school of magic and wizardry first hand. From the moment I entered the Railway Museum, I could feel the magic in the air. The smoke of a locomotive welcomed me to…
Since the 1960s, South Korea has transformed from one of the poorest countries in the world into an advanced industrial economy, becoming a global leader in technology with firms like Samsung and Hyundai. After the Korean War, which left the peninsula in ruins and carved it in two, South Korea — backed by the United States and its allies — embarked on a path of rapid reconstruction and industrialization; while North Korea, supported by the Soviet Union and China, became increasingly isolated and economically stagnant. Today, South Korea’s GDP is roughly 40 times larger than that of its nuclear-armed northern…
