We may all have effortless access to cameras these days thanks to our mobile phones, but that doesn’t make taking a good photo easy.

In theory, it’s just pointing and shooting. In reality, the worst snappers among us end up with blurry pictures, blank photos, or (our least favourite blunder) – a finger covering up half the frame.

If you count yourself among the bad shutterbugs of the world, for once the disadvantage might just work in your favour.

That’s because Icelandair is looking to prove that “even the worst photographer can take great photos of Iceland”.

The country’s flag carrier is offering up a 10-day trip to Iceland, with round-trip flights, accommodation and spending money, as well as €43,000 in exchange for your photos and content at the end.

How bad photographers can apply

Icelandair’s “really bad photographer” campaign is only open to those with no professional background in photography and no special interest in the art.

You’ll need to be comfortable sharing yourself on video and in photos, and you must be comfortable hiking and taking part in outdoor activities.

On the practical side of things, you’ll need a valid passport, be over the age of 21, and be able to travel to Iceland, the UK and the USA.

To apply, you should head to reallybadphotographer.com.

You’ll be asked six questions about your photography skills, and to increase your chances, you can also submit a 60-second video explaining why you are the ideal candidate.

Best of luck!
