At least two people have been killed in Russian strikes on Ukraine on Saturday, as rescue operations continue in Kryvyi Rih following Friday’s deadly attack on a shopping centre.

In Kyiv, one person died after a fire broke out at a building in the capital’s Darnytskyi district, according to the Kyiv City Military Administration, which had issued an air raid alert shortly before.

Oleksandr Pertsovskyi, the head of Ukrainian Railways, a state-run rail operator, said Russian forces had targeted a railway facility with ballistic missiles and that the victim was a foreman at the site.

“The Odesa railway is also under attack,” he added in a social media post on Saturday morning.

A man was also killed in a drone strike on Kushuhum in the southeastern Ukrainian region of Zaporizhzhia, per Ivan Fedorov, the regional governor. Four others were injured in the attack, he said.

The strikes come a day after Russia launched a major daytime drone assault on the city of Kryvyi Rih, the hometown of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

At least 16 people were killed and 130 were injured in the attack, which authorities say came in two waves.

In an update on Saturday, Ukraine’s State Emergency Service (DSNS) reported that nine people, including two children, were still missing following the strikes.

Oleksandr Hanzha, the head of the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Military Administration, said 61 of those injured in the attack remain in hospital, with 23 in a “serious condition.”

Zelenskyy shared footage on X on Saturday appearing to show scenes from Kryvyi Rih. Rescuers can be seen hunting through wreckage while other emergency workers speak with people on the streets.

Russian forces launched 217 drones and a number of missiles at Ukraine overnight, per the Ukrainian air force.

“According to preliminary data, as of 09:00, air defences had shot down or neutralised 3 Kh-31P/Kh-59 air-to-ground missiles, 6 ‘Banderole’ loitering munitions, as well as 182 enemy UAVs of the Shahed and Gerber types and other types of drones in the north, south, east and centre of the country,” it said in a post on Telegram.
