Both the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the Lebanese Armed Forces confirmed the strike on Saturday. The Lebanese military published photos showing the vehicle completely destroyed. Beirut described the strike as “an Israeli aggressive and barbaric raid,” while the IDF said the vehicle had been moving “suspiciously towards IDF soldiers” in an “active combat zone.”

“The IDF is reviewing the incident, and lessons will be learned accordingly. The IDF operates against the Hezbollah terrorist organization, not against the Lebanese Army,” the Israeli military said in a statement.

Clashes between Israel and the Iran-backed Hezbollah group continued over the weekend after the militant organization rejected a U.S.-backed ceasefire proposal on Thursday. Hezbollah is conducting its attacks from Lebanese territory.

Israel’s air force continued heavy bombardment of Lebanon over the weekend. In a social media post, the air force said its planes struck 150 targets that it described as Hezbollah “terror infrastructures.”

On Sunday, Israel said it had intercepted two projectiles launched from Lebanon toward northern Israel, with IDF warning residents of the southern Lebanese city of Tyre to evacuate ahead of possible strikes, according to a Reuters report.
