A party official, granted anonymity to discuss internal matters, told POLITICO the pair’s futures will only be decided after the conclusion of a Metropolitan Police investigation.

Scotland Yard is investigating multiple “potential offences” arising from the broadcast of footage showing discussions about how the party could receive donations from an overseas donor and also asking a bogus company to pay for polls commissioned by officials.

On Wednesday, a Reform spokesperson said: “Having concluded the review, the investigation found no evidence that any laws were broken.

“We consider that the production company — Verbatim — acted unlawfully and will be taking the appropriate legal action in due course.”

While the internal investigation cleared Orr and Jukes of breaking the law, the report said it “does not excuse” the “foolish” way they spoke to the undercover reporter.

In a statement, Jukes welcomed the finding he did not break the law, and said: “I am also considering all appropriate legal remedies in relation to any false and damaging statements made about me.”

Reform published its report just before Kemi Badenoch — leader of their right-wing Conservative rivals — delivered her party conference speech in Birmingham.

In her speech, Badenoch referenced the police investigation into Reform, and rejected calls for her to do a deal with Farage. “To those who say ‘unite the right,’ we are not uniting with that,” she said.
